Sola Ladoja, son of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1 has addressed controversy surrounding a recent meeting between his father and the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, insisting the engagement was political but not tied to any plot against the state government.
His clarification comes amid heightened political speculation in Oyo State, including claims of a possible move to remove Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement shared via his social media account, Sola explained that earlier comments he made had been misinterpreted, particularly his use of the word “receipts,” which he said referred to documented conversations and not financial evidence.
He stressed that the meeting in question did not involve discussions about impeachment, financial inducements, or alliances with opposition groups.
According to him, the interaction was facilitated at the request of the Speaker but has since been blown out of proportion, fueling unnecessary political tension.
Also reacting to the growing claims, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Egbeda Constituency, Sunkanmi Babalola, dismissed reports suggesting lawmakers were holding covert meetings aimed at undermining the governor.
He described such reports as fabricated and politically driven, rejecting claims that large sums of money had been offered to influence legislative actions.
Babalola maintained that elected officials in the state remain committed to the mandate given to them by voters.
Recall that TruthVanta reported that Speaker Ogundoyin also denied allegations linking him to any financial dealings or external political pressure to initiate impeachment proceedings.
He described the accusations as false and intended to create division within the government.
While acknowledging that offers had been presented to him, he stated that he rejected them outright, emphasizing his allegiance to the administration and the electorate.
On the visit to the Olubadan, the Speaker clarified that the meeting was a customary consultation, not a political scheme.
He explained that he visited the monarch to formally communicate his political ambition and seek traditional support, describing the move as consistent with cultural expectations.
Despite multiple denials from key figures, political tension in the state has yet to subside, with ongoing speculation about internal disagreements and possible power struggles.
Observers say the situation highlights the sensitivity of political engagements in the state, especially as conversations around future leadership begin to take shape.
