The Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has advised members of his congregation to give kidnappers his phone number if they are ever abducted, saying he possesses the spiritual authority to intervene and secure their release.
Oyedepo made the statement during a recent church service at the Canaanland headquarters in Ota, Ogun State. A video clip of the sermon has since circulated widely on social media.
In the video, the cleric instructed congregants to ensure that abductors contact him directly in the event of a kidnapping.
“If anybody picks you, give them my number,” he said.
He supported his remarks by referencing what he described as past divine interventions in kidnapping cases involving church members. According to him, a pastor once regained freedom after he issued a warning to abductors, while another female member was released following a faith declaration regarding her rescue.
Oyedepo stated that believers carry spiritual authority over life-threatening situations and encouraged members to act on that belief.
The sermon has generated widespread reactions online, particularly given ongoing concerns about kidnapping and insecurity in parts of the country.
The clip was shared under the hashtag #SupersonicSunday on the church’s social media platforms and was recorded during a service held days before it gained wider circulation.
