Olubadan Congratulates Muslims, Advises Security Consciousness During Sallah

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1 has congratulated Muslims on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, while also urging them to remain vigilant throughout the festive period.

The first-class monarch, in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, in Ibadan on Tuesday, stated that being alive to witness the Sallah celebration is a privilege that should never be taken for granted.

According to him, watching one’s back entails being security-conscious of one’s environment at all times while celebrating the exemplary life of Prophet Ibrahim, who offered his son, Ismail, as a sacrifice to God.

“Although the occasion calls for merriment, we need to celebrate it prayerfully and soberly, bearing in mind the challenges facing Nigeria, such as insecurity,” the monarch said.

Oba Ladoja described Eid-el-Kabir as a spiritually significant festival in the Islamic calendar and urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for the peace, prosperity, and security of Nigeria, especially with regard to the forthcoming elections.

He further urged Muslims to remember that all hands are not equal and that those who are blessed should be willing to share with and care for the less privileged in society.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs also decried the spate of banditry, particularly the recent kidnapping of students in Orire, Oyo State, and appealed to the faithful to support the efforts of relevant stakeholders towards securing the timely release of the captives.
