A 67-year-old retired teacher, Mr. Abel Atilola, has been killed by unknown assailants near his farm along the Irawo axis of Tede, in ATISBO Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Monday, when the deceased reportedly went to his farm and was ambushed by persons whose identities are yet to be established. Mr. Atilola, who was said to have retired from active service not long ago, died at the scene of the attack.
Sources disclosed that the matter was promptly reported to the police, while residents of the area expressed shock over the killing.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, said investigations had commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder and bring the perpetrators to justice.
He stated briefly that “investigation into his murder has commenced.”
