The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Osun State chapter, has honoured the Chairman of CAN in Oyo State, Elisha Olukayode Ogundiya, with an Award of Honour in recognition of his service and leadership within the Christian community.
The award was presented during the Osun CAN Annual General Meeting held at the associationโs secretariat in Aisu, Ede, along the Gbongan-Ibadan Road. The event drew Christian leaders and delegates from across the state, alongside representatives from Oyo State.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Osun State CAN leadership commended Ogundiya for what they described as meritorious, selfless and patriotic service during his tenure as CAN Chairman in Osun State. They noted that his calm disposition, courage and commitment helped to stabilize the Christian body at a time it faced significant internal and external challenges.
In his response, Ogundiya expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing his period of service in Osun as a divine assignment. He attributed the successes recorded during his tenure to Godโs grace and collective support from Christian leaders and members, while urging believers to remain steadfast, disciplined and united in advancing the work of the gospel.
He further assured that in his current role as Oyo State CAN Chairman, he would continue to strengthen collaboration between the Osun and Oyo chapters to promote unity and shared progress across state lines. The event was also attended by a representative of the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, alongside members of the Oyo CAN leadership delegation.
