The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on community leaders to take the security of their domains seriously, stressing the need for vigilance and grassroots coordination in addressing growing security concerns.
The monarch gave the charge during the installation of Mogajis and Baales at the Olubadan Palace, Oja’ba, Ibadan. The exercise marks the first installation of traditional title holders since his coronation on September 26.
Speaking at the ceremony, Oba Ladoja emphasised that the appointments go beyond ceremonial recognition, noting that the roles carry significant responsibility. He urged the newly installed leaders to stay alert to developments within their communities and work closely with neighbouring areas to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Describing security as a collective duty, the Olubadan encouraged the chiefs to sensitise youths on the importance of joining security agencies, including the police, armed forces and civil defence. He also reaffirmed that the ongoing crackdown on land grabbers would continue, warning that such activities pose a serious threat to peace and stability.
A total of 14 Mogajis and 8 Baales were installed in accordance with the Oyo State Chiefs Law and the Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration, with top traditional leaders and members of the Olubadan-in-Council in attendance.
