Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship position in Oyo State, pledging to deliver compassionate and people-centered leadership.
The declaration was made on Friday at Yemetu Field in Ibadan, where party leaders, dignitaries, and political stakeholders gathered in large numbers to witness the event.
TruthVanta reports that the lawmaker, who is contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), assured the people of his commitment to selfless service and inclusive governance.
While addressing the crowd, Senator Alli highlighted his extensive experience in public service. He recalled his tenure as the pioneer Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, where he said he brought governance closer to the grassroots, strengthened institutions, and improved infrastructure.
He also noted that during his time as Secretary to the State Government, he played a key role in ensuring effective policy implementation for the benefit of the people.
The governorship aspirant further assured that if elected, he would govern with compassion, prioritise the welfare of citizens above politics, and remain accessible and accountable in the discharge of his duties.
Senator Alli, who also holds the traditional title of Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland, reiterated his commitment to passionate and people-oriented governance.
The event attracted several prominent figures within the APC, including former lawmakers and party chieftains, as well as stakeholders from across the state who came out in solidarity.
