Twins Festival: Ogundoyin Pushes Makinde, APM’s 2027 Ambition in Ibarapa

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has called on the people of Ibarapaland to show their appreciation for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration through their political choices ahead of the 2027 general elections, including support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and its candidates.

Ogundoyin made the appeal on Saturday while representing Governor Makinde at the grand finale of the 2026 World Twins Festival in Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The cultural event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, indigenes, visitors and political figures, including some APM candidates. They included Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, representing the Oyo South Senatorial District, and Adebayo Anthony Adepoju, popularly called Ibarapakan, who represents the Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

Addressing the gathering, the Speaker said Ibarapaland had reasons to appreciate an administration that recognised the region and incorporated its communities into the development agenda of Oyo State.

He expressed confidence that the people would have an opportunity to demonstrate their appreciation for the governor’s leadership through their political choices ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Ogundoyin also stressed the need for the state to sustain its development efforts, noting that the future of Oyo State should be guided by continuity of progress and the collective interests of its people.

He commended Governor Makinde for what he described as purposeful leadership and developmental strides across the state, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors.

According to the Speaker, the administration’s interventions in these areas reflect its commitment to the growth and development of Oyo State.

He urged residents of Ibarapaland to maintain constructive engagement with the government and support initiatives aimed at promoting development, inclusion and prosperity across the region.

Beyond the political appeal, Ogundoyin described the World Twins Festival as a significant celebration of Igboora’s cultural identity and heritage.

Igboora is widely recognised for its high incidence of twin births, a distinctive feature that has helped attract attention to the community beyond Nigeria.

The Speaker said the annual festival provides an opportunity to showcase the cultural heritage of Ibarapaland to a wider audience while promoting tourism, cultural preservation and economic activities.

The World Twins Festival has continued to serve as a platform for celebrating multiple births, strengthening community identity and drawing visitors to Igboora, reinforcing the town’s reputation as a notable cultural destination in Oyo State.
