Police Arrest Suspected Quack Practitioner Operating Unlicensed Medical Facility In Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for alleged quack medical practice and operation of an unlicensed medical facility in the Olodo area of Ibadan.

The suspect was arrested on October 2, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m. by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit following credible intelligence about his activities at Life Is Good Hospital, Olodo, Ibadan.

According to the Command, operatives who visited the facility found the suspect attending to patients and administering treatments, particularly fertility-related treatments, despite allegedly not being a certified medical doctor.

Items recovered from the facility include two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, one stethoscope, a large carton containing assorted medicines and specimen bottles.

During preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly confessed to operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years despite not being a medical doctor and having no licence to practise medicine.

The Police said Benjamin also admitted specialising in fertility-related treatment, which he had been administering to patients at the facility.

The Command warned members of the public about the risks of seeking medical care from unqualified practitioners, particularly in sensitive areas such as fertility treatment.

It urged residents to verify the professional credentials and registration status of individuals offering medical services before entrusting their health or that of their loved ones to them.

The Police also encouraged residents to report suspicious medical facilities or individuals presenting themselves as medical practitioners without verifiable credentials to the Police or relevant regulatory authorities.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and establish whether other persons are connected to the operation of the facility, after which appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the law.

The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, on October 7, 2026.
