The Oyo State Government has approved the constitution of the 3rd Assembly of the Oyo State Youth Parliament, in a move aimed at strengthening youth participation in governance and leadership development.
The approval was granted under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, according to a statement issued by the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development.
The agency disclosed that the initiative is designed to empower young people across the state. It provides a platform for legislative simulation. It also supports policy engagement and leadership training.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants are required to meet specific conditions, including:
- Must be Nigerian citizens and indigenes of Oyo State aged between 15 and 29 years
- Possess a minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent
- Demonstrate passion for youth development and leadership
- Have no criminal record
- Must not be affiliated with any secret cult
- Provide a valid Local Government Identification Certificate
- Present a Birth Certificate (sworn affidavits will not be accepted)
- Maintain a clean record free from illicit drug use
Application Process and Deadline
Applicants are to complete their registration online via the agency’s official website. After submission, candidates are required to print their forms and submit hard copies alongside necessary documents.
The submission window runs from April 14 to April 28, 2026. Deliver documents to the Office of the Chairman, Oyo State Agency for Youth Development. This office is located at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.

Chairman of the agency, Falana Adebowale Adebayo, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders through structured engagement and inclusive governance opportunities.
He encouraged eligible youths across the state to take advantage of the initiative. He described the Youth Parliament as a vital avenue for amplifying young voices. It also helps in shaping public policy.
