The Oyo State Government has fixed Friday, April 3, 2026, for the coronation and beaded crown ceremony of newly elevated High Chiefs in Ibadan.

The event is scheduled to take place at Mapo Hall, according to a letter from the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, addressed to the Olubadan.

The correspondence followed a request from the Olubadan for a list of High Chiefs and Baales due for elevation. While the list is still being compiled, the commissioner explained that tradition requires newly promoted members of the Olubadan-in-Council to receive their beaded crowns without delay.

He added that postponing the ceremony could lead to unnecessary speculation or political misinterpretation, which the government aims to avoid in order to protect the credibility of the Ibadan traditional institution.

Those expected to be crowned include High Chief Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin as Ekeerin Olubadan, High Chief Sarafadeen Abidin Alli as Ekaarun Balogun, and High Chief Kola Babalola as Ekaarun Olubadan.

The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s readiness for the ceremony and appreciated the Olubadan’s cooperation as preparations continue for the event.
