The Oyo State Police Command has brokered peace between the family, wife, friends and associates of late Nigerian singer, Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, following disagreements over his burial arrangements.
The intervention, which was concluded on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan, followed concerns over allegations of conspiracy, defamation of character and actions capable of causing a breach of public peace.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, had directed the parties to appear before the Command after receiving information about the dispute on October 28, 2026. The disagreement had reportedly generated tensions and public exchanges across various communication platforms.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the deceased’s wife, Mrs Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola; his father, Mr Muniru Olayemi; and his friends and associates, including Oyindamola Esther, Babadunni Gbolabo and Comrade Lawal Ademola Rafiu, alongside his personal assistant and other representatives, signed a peace undertaking before the Commissioner of Police.

Under the agreement, all parties committed to maintaining peace and good conduct, refraining from actions capable of escalating the dispute and discontinuing public exchanges, interviews and discussions relating to the singer’s death and the disagreements surrounding his burial.
They also agreed to stop circulating allegations, narratives and publications about the matter through social media, print media, radio, blogs and other communication platforms.
The undertaking further covers their proxies, agents, associates and representatives, who are expected to desist from sponsoring, amplifying or circulating publications capable of reigniting tensions. The parties also agreed not to facilitate media engagements or interviews for the purpose of further publicising the dispute.
Addressing the parties, the Commissioner of Police warned that the agreement must be respected by everyone involved, including their associates and representatives.
He cautioned against exploiting the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death to promote hostility or unsubstantiated allegations, adding that anyone whose actions constitute an offence under the law would be arrested and prosecuted.
The Command also appealed to bloggers, media practitioners and members of the public to exercise restraint and avoid circulating unverified information capable of reigniting the disagreement.
It reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, preventing crime and maintaining public order across Oyo State, while urging all parties to honour the agreement and allow the matter to be addressed through peaceful and lawful means.
