A tragic road accident occurred on Monday at the Oke Ado Market axis in Ibadan, involving a fuel tanker and a commercial tricycle (popularly known as Keke Marwa).
Preliminary reports indicate that the tanker experienced a brake failure while navigating the busy market corridor, leading to a devastating collision with the tricycle.
The impact proved fatal for the tricycle operator, who was confirmed dead at the scene. No additional casualties have been officially confirmed at the time of this report.
The accident has caused severe traffic disruption along the Oke Ado axis, a key commercial route in the city. Movement in and out of the area remains heavily congested as emergency responders, traffic officials, and security personnel work to clear the scene and restore order.
Authorities have urged motorists and commuters to avoid the Oke Ado Market route entirely for now and make use of alternative roads until normal traffic flow is restored.
This incident adds to ongoing concerns about tanker safety and congestion in densely populated commercial areas, where narrow roads and heavy vehicular movement increase the risk of accidents.
Further updates are expected as official agencies release more details.
