Oyo to Deepen Civil Service Digitalisation for Global Competitiveness, SSG Says

The Oyo State Government has pledged to sustain the digital transformation of the state’s civil service to improve efficiency and position public servants to compete with their counterparts globally.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, gave the assurance during an interactive meeting between the Head of Service and accounting officers in the state’s civil and public service at the Local Government Hall, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Babatunde described the civil service as the engine room of government, particularly in policy formulation and implementation. He said the government depended on civil servants to develop practical policies and provide professional advice that would address the needs and aspirations of the people.

He noted that ideas generated by civil servants were essential to developing policies and programmes capable of delivering tangible benefits to residents.

“When civil servants give you an idea, be rest assured that it is implementable for the masses,” he said.

The SSG urged accounting officers to continue supporting the administration beyond 2027, stressing the importance of continuity in governance and the implementation of the state’s development agenda.

He also commended them for their cooperation with the Head of Service and Governor Seyi Makinde, describing their contributions as important to the progress and development of Oyo State. He encouraged them to sustain their commitment to effective service delivery and work collectively towards achieving the administration’s objectives.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Allied People’s Movement (APM) governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi, pledged to introduce innovative initiatives aimed at empowering civil and public servants to compete favourably with their counterparts globally.

Adekanmbi said his policy proposals would prioritise healthcare, education, agriculture, security, infrastructure and youth empowerment.

He added that competence, capacity and loyalty would guide his approach to governance and public service administration, describing the values as essential to the development of Oyo State.
