The Oyo State Government has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to mark this year’s Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Day.
The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
According to the government, the work-free day will allow teachers to participate in activities organised to mark the occasion, celebrate their contributions to the education sector and strengthen unity among members of the teaching profession.
The government also said the declaration reflects its commitment to the welfare, dignity and professional development of teachers, describing them as key contributors to human capital development in the state.
In a statement signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaiman Olanrewaju, the state government congratulated teachers on the occasion and reaffirmed its commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving teaching and learning across Oyo State.
