The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Senator) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1 has described the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saโad Abubakar, as a symbol of peace, unity and religious tolerance in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Adeola Oloko, the monarch said the Sultan embodies harmony and peaceful coexistence, noting that he was groomed and shaped in Ibadan as a leader.
Oba Ladoja praised the Sultan โ who also serves as Chancellor of the University of Ibadan โ for appointing the first Ibadan indigene, Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, as Vice-Chancellor since the institution was founded in 1948.
Responding, the Sultan said he led an entourage from all six geo-political zones to pay a courtesy and solidarity visit to the Olubadan, whom he described as โour Chief Landlord,โ appreciating Ibadan for providing the land on which the University of Ibadan was built.
The event was attended by members of the Sultanโs entourage, top management of the University of Ibadan, traditional rulers, and the President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, among other dignitaries.
