The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria and Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace and collective responsibility as the country steps into the year 2026.
In his New Year goodwill message, Ogundoyin felicitated Nigerians nationwide, state legislators across the federation and his constituents in Oyo State, expressing optimism that the new year would usher in greater national cohesion and prosperity.
According to him, 2026 offers another opportunity for citizens and leaders alike to recommit to the core values of peace, justice, equity and sustainable development.
“2026 presents another opportunity for us as a people and as a nation to renew our commitment to peace, justice, equity and sustainable development. We must build bridges, heal divides and reinforce the spirit of nationhood,” he said.
Ogundoyin also commended State Houses of Assembly across the country for what he described as notable legislative progress in the past year. He urged lawmakers to remain resolute in strengthening democratic institutions, promoting good governance and upholding the rule of law.
“As lawmakers, our duty is clear. We must continue to enact people-centred laws, exercise effective oversight and genuinely represent the aspirations of our constituents,” the Conference Chairman stated.
He appreciated the support and cooperation of his colleagues within the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, reaffirming his commitment to fostering stronger synergy among state legislatures for national development.
Addressing residents of Ibarapa East and the people of Oyo State, Ogundoyin expressed gratitude for their continued support, assuring them of increased legislative engagement and more developmental initiatives in the year ahead.
“Let 2026 be a year of positive action, resilience and collaboration. Together, we can build a stronger, safer and more united Nigeria,” he added.
