The Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1 has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between the monarch and Seyi Makinde, describing such claims as false and misleading.

In a press statement issued on April 2, 2026, the Olubadan’s Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, clarified that there is no disagreement between the revered monarch and the Oyo State Governor.
The palace further refuted speculations that the Olubadan deliberately traveled out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 3.
According to the statement, the monarch remains in Ibadan, hale and hearty, and continues to carry out his royal duties.
Addressing the status of the planned coronation, the palace disclosed that the three High Chiefs slated for elevation had formally notified the Olubadan of their inability to attend the ceremony.
They subsequently requested a postponement, which has been communicated to the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
The palace reiterated its commitment to transparency and urged the public to disregard unfounded reports.
