Oba Ladoja stressed that the role of the police in maintaining law and order remains critical, noting that security is a shared responsibility. He pledged to mobilise traditional rulers across the state, including members of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, to sensitise residents and encourage participation in the exercise.
Earlier, DIG Lakanu disclosed that 50,000 police constables are currently being recruited nationwide, but expressed concern over low participation from the South-West. He appealed to traditional institutions and the media to help drive awareness, adding that increased local participation would strengthen community policing efforts.
