Adekanmbi Accuses Alli of Mismanaging Ibadan North LG Funds, Questions Record Ahead of 2027

The Oyo State governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, of alleged financial mismanagement during his time as chairman of Ibadan North Local Government.

Adekanmbi made the allegations during an interview on Fresh FM, where he challenged Alli to explain his record in local government administration as the state approaches the 2027 governorship election.

He alleged that Alli had been given funds to purchase 19 hectares of land while serving as local government chairman but failed to account for the money. Adekanmbi also claimed that he was personally affected by the matter.

The APM candidate further alleged that during the period of local government autonomy in Oyo State, workers’ salaries were left unpaid under Alli’s administration and that workers who protested over the situation were arrested.

Adekanmbi said he possessed reports that allegedly indicted Alli and directed him to refund funds to the state. He claimed that the repayment remained incomplete and questioned how Alli would manage local government autonomy if elected governor.

The former Commissioner for Finance also stated that he cleared outstanding salaries owed to state workers after assuming office, contrasting his record with the allegations he raised against the APC candidate.

Adekanmbi additionally criticised Alli over what he described as a lack of major empowerment programmes for his constituents since 2023, despite the constituency allowances he alleged Alli had received.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and no response from Alli to the claims as at the time of this report.
