LASTMA Arrests Two Drivers After Lagos Crash Leaves Four Passengers Seriously Injured

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has arrested two drivers following a road accident that left four passengers seriously injured at Otedola, inward Berger, near Jubilee Gate in Lagos.

The accident, which involved a Toyota Highlander and a Mazda commercial bus, occurred during the morning rush hour on Monday, October 19, 2026, along the busy carriageway.

According to a statement by LASTMA, the four injured passengers sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures, and were rescued by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

The victims were subsequently taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at the Toll Gate for immediate medical attention.

LASTMA operatives who responded to the incident conducted rescue operations and introduced traffic control measures to ease congestion and prevent further accidents. Security personnel from the Isheri Police Division also supported the operation by securing the scene and assisting emergency responders.

The agency said both drivers were arrested and handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution in line with established road safety enforcement procedures.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the agency’s personnel, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), LASAMBUS officials and the police for their swift response and cooperation.

Bakare-Oki stressed the importance of coordinated emergency response, particularly on busy roads where delays could worsen the consequences of accidents.

He also urged motorists to obey traffic regulations, maintain appropriate speeds and remain attentive while driving, warning that preventable road crashes continue to threaten lives and public safety.

LASTMA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening traffic monitoring, improving emergency response and enforcing road safety regulations across Lagos State.
