The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has expressed sorrow over the death of a serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Abidakun Oluwatosin, who died in a road accident involving an articulated truck in Ibadan on Monday.
Oluwatosin, who had recently resumed her primary assignment at the Oyo State House of Assembly, was reportedly returning home after work with another corps member when the accident occurred around Agodi Gardens, behind the Oyo State Government Secretariat. The two were said to be riding on the same motorcycle when an articulated truck rammed into them.
While Oluwatosin died in the accident, the other corps member sustained injuries and is receiving medical attention at a hospital.
Ogundoyin described the incident as a painful loss, noting that the deceased had only recently begun her national service with hopes and aspirations for the future.
He said her death was a loss to her family, friends, colleagues and the Oyo State House of Assembly, where she had just commenced her service year.
The Speaker extended his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, colleagues and fellow corps members, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
He also expressed concern for the surviving corps member and prayed for a speedy and complete recovery.
