The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly involved in the snatching of mobile phones and motorcycles across Oyo, Osun and Lagos states.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that led operatives to raid a residence in the Onirerin–Mokola area of Ibadan.
The suspects were identified as Timilehin Idowu, 23, and Kudus Agoeo, 25. Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that they operated as a three-man gang, using a motorcycle to snatch phones and motorcycles from unsuspecting members of the public in Ibadan and Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The Police said the suspects provided information indicating that the gang’s activities extended across Oyo, Osun and Lagos states. They also reportedly gave investigators information about other individuals linked to the network, including those allegedly responsible for disposing of stolen items.
The Command said investigations were ongoing, with operatives pursuing leads to identify and arrest other suspected members of the gang and recover stolen property. The two suspects remain in police custody.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts to combat crime.
He also appreciated residents for their continued cooperation and urged members of the public to provide credible and actionable information that could assist the Police in preventing and detecting criminal activities.
The Command assured residents that it would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to protect lives and property, dismantle criminal networks and maintain peace and security across the state.
