Ogundoyin Sustains Late Mother’s Humanitarian Legacy, Supports Hundreds of Widows, Widowers in Ibarapa East

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has honoured the memory of his late mother, Chief Mrs. Justina Iyabode Ogundoyin, by extending food, clothing and financial support to hundreds of widows and widowers in Ibarapa East Local Government Area.

The humanitarian outreach, held on Saturday at the Ogundoyin family residence in Ori-Oke, brought together beneficiaries drawn from the ten wards of the local government as part of efforts to sustain the welfare initiative established by his late mother.

The Speaker said the programme was a continuation of his mother’s commitment to supporting widows and other vulnerable members of society, adding that he considered it a responsibility to preserve the values of compassion, generosity and community service she upheld during her lifetime.

He explained that the distribution of food items, clothes and cash was aimed at providing relief to beneficiaries, many of whom face economic and social challenges while shouldering family responsibilities.

Ogundoyin noted that the initiative went beyond material assistance, describing it as an expression of love, care and solidarity with members of the community who need support.

The event attracted political and community leaders, including members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Ibarapa East and the South-West Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANT), Chief Mrs. Odunayo Danjuma, a close friend of the late Chief Mrs. Ogundoyin.

Danjuma commended the Speaker for sustaining his mother’s humanitarian legacy, describing the gesture as a worthy continuation of her commitment to the welfare of others.

She urged other well-meaning individuals to emulate the initiative by extending support to vulnerable members of their communities, particularly those struggling to meet their daily needs.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mrs. Tafa Aishat, Mrs. Akinlade Funmilayo, Pa. Atilola Ezekiel and Mrs. Obatola Ibiyosi, expressed gratitude to the Speaker, describing the intervention as timely and meaningful.

They commended Ogundoyin for remembering them and providing assistance at a time when many households are grappling with rising living costs and other economic difficulties.
