Armed bandits have reportedly blocked the Isa-Shinkafi highway in Zamfara State, raising fresh concerns over the safety of motorists and other road users in the North-West.
The incident was reported on Monday by conflict reporter and security advocate, D English Alhaji, in a post on Facebook.
“Bandits have blocked d Isa to shinkafi highway in Zamfara state,” Alhaji wrote.
Details surrounding the reported blockade, including the precise location, the number of armed men involved and whether any travellers were attacked or abducted, remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Zamfara is among the states in north-western Nigeria that have faced persistent attacks by armed groups, including kidnappings, assaults on communities and other violent crimes.
The continuing insecurity has disrupted road transportation, farming and commercial activities, leaving residents and travellers concerned about their safety, particularly along highways connecting rural communities.
However, there was no immediate official confirmation from the police or other security agencies regarding the reported incident. It was also unclear whether security operatives had been deployed to the area or when normal movement along the route would resume.
Motorists travelling through the affected corridor are advised to seek reliable updates from security authorities before proceeding, pending official clarification of the situation.
